훌륭한 교육자는 숙제 외에도 뭔가 생각할 것을 집에 가져가도록 하는(give you something to take home to think about besides homework) 분이라고 한다. 무릇(generally speaking) 촛불과 같다고 했다. 자신을 불태워 다른 이들의 갈 길을 밝혀주는(consume oneself to light the way for others) 은혜로운 존재(a benevolent being)라고 했다.
